AMD just sent over a bunch of shots of an upcoming product that we may or may not be presently benchmarking: the Radeon HD 6990. Check out the gallery for the pics.
Update: AMD accidentally gave us a shot of the Radeon HD 6990 without the fan shroud attached. Apparently that image reveals a bit too much about the product and AMD asked us to remove it. Sorry guys :)

This really is an ignorant comment. There are dozens of games that can conquer a 5870 at 1080p, much less at 1920p (which some people game at). I have a 5850 and the STALKER games can make my framerate unplayable if I turn up all the settings my screen. How can you look at games like Battlefield 3 and Skyrim and still say something like this? It baffles me.

Stalker is a badly optimized game, talk about 95% of the games out. most of them dont need high end hardware, most of them will work fine with 3-4 yr old hardware. I would think a GTX 460 will be more then enough for BF3 in 1080p.The only point when games will choke current midrange hardware is when you run them at resolutions like 2560*1600 then turn on 8x AA. Other then that sorry 95% of games out dont need good hardware its a fact.

It really boils down to what is acceptable to you. A 460 is just enough for BC2 at 1080p with all things maxed (minus AA).A 460 will run BF3 for sure, but not at max.

Battlefield 3 devs have stated the game will be DX11, and built for PC first and foremost (with features making the PC version better than the console version). It may be a homerun, but its a leap forward. Game is slated to release later this year.mac2j - Wednesday, March 2, 2011 - link
For me its more the hope that we'll finally get 30" 2560x1600x120Hz monitors and maybe 1920x1200x240hz ones. A card like this would almost be a must to take full advantage of those.CptTripps - Thursday, March 3, 2011 - link
The one where people play on a 30" monitor (or 3 of them) and want the ability to turn every option to the max.Crysis ran great under DX9 but it took years for a card to come out that would actually play the DX10 version at a smooth framerate.
Battlefield 3 comes to mind first hand.

Crysis 2 is a joke.. waiting for Battlefied3 to test my 5870 that still runs almost all games in very high detail :)MooseMuffin - Tuesday, March 1, 2011 - link
